Privacy policy
KindNear is a free app for older people and their families. This page explains, in plain words, what information the app handles, where it is kept, and what you can do about it. We do not sell data and we do not show advertisements.
1. Who is responsible
Creative Lab, New Delhi, India ("we"). Contact: support@kindnear.com.
2. What the app stores and why
| Information | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Name of the older person and of family members, family member email, optional phone numbers | To run the family group, to show who is who, and so the SOS button can call the right person | On the phone and on our server |
| Medicines, schedules, doses taken or missed, medicine photos and family voice recordings | Reminders and the family view | On the phone; on our server only when a family is connected |
| Health readings typed in by you or your family (blood pressure, sugar, weight, oxygen, temperature, pulse, pain, mood, sleep, symptoms), lab report photos, documents you add (prescriptions, insurance, ID) | History, charts, the doctor report, the family view | On the phone; on our server only when a family is connected |
| Medical card (blood group, allergies, conditions, doctor) | Shown on the phone and shared by you in an emergency | On the phone and on our server |
| Location, only at the moment the SOS button is pressed | So family can find the person | Sent once to the family through our server; kept in the alert history |
| "Last seen" time and battery level of the older person's phone | Family can see the phone is alive; low-battery alert; "no activity" alert | On our server |
| A push-notification token for each phone | To deliver alerts | On our server and with Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) or Apple (APNs) |
| Language, text size, colour and reminder settings | To run the app the way you set it | On the phone; some on our server |
KindNear never measures anything itself. Readings are typed in from your own devices. The app does not read your messages, contacts or call history.
3. Where the server is
Our server is a dedicated machine we rent from Hetzner in Germany (European Union). Data on it is kept in a separate database used only by KindNear and backed up nightly. Push notifications travel through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service; only the short alert text (for example "Missed medicine") and an identifier are sent that way.
4. Optional smart helpers (AI)
The helpers that read a prescription or a machine screen from a photo, check a suspicious message, explain a lab report, or prepare questions for the doctor send the photo or text you chose to our server and from there to Anthropic's Claude API. We ask for your agreement before the first use. Nothing else from the app is sent, and the content is not used to train any model. You can use the app fully without these helpers. Answers are aids, not medical advice, and you can report an answer from inside the app.
5. Who can see what
Only the members of your family group can see the older person's information, and only the roles you give them. A "helper" (for example a domestic helper or nurse) sees today's medicines and can add a reading, but not the history or documents. We, the operators, do not look at family data except to fix a problem you report, and then only with your permission.
6. How long we keep it
As long as the family group exists. When you delete the account from the app (Settings → Delete my data and account) or ask us at kindnear.com/delete-account, the data is removed from the server within 7 days and from backups within 30 days. Data on the phone is removed by the app at once, or by uninstalling.
7. Your rights
You can export everything from the app (Settings → Export my data), correct anything from the app, and delete everything. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you also have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR; write to support@kindnear.com. If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act applies and the same address works.
8. Children
KindNear is made for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
9. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you the next time it opens, and this page will show the new date.
